There are so many things you can infer from it that it's ultimately useless.

You can infer that folks in the white states hate it so much that they make sure they have the means to get the fuck out.

You could also infer that folks in the white states have a more evolved worldview by being better traveled.

Mississippi may be the only one where everyone will come to the same conclusion: people are either too fucking poor get out of the state so they have no need for a passport, or too ignorant to know that there are other places in the world outside of Mississippi.

I can infer that states near national boarders have a higher passport ownership than states farther from borders.

^ it's only in the past few years that you need a passport to visit Mexico and Canada.

also for the map ... no surprises there!

Shit this reminds me I really need to mail in my passport renewal form

I'm sure it's just based on where you applied for your passport. Not really sure how else they would come up with the data.

Something similar, but I would say that people from the white states are more educated and pushed to see more of the world and become "cultured."

so I understand what "less than 20%" means

but what's the difference between "more than 20%" and "more than 60%"?

I assume more than %20 means %20-%29, more than %30 means %30-%39, etc

so what you're saying is that someone from mississippi made this?

^"more than 20%" covers 20-100%. It could be 20...it could be 100

"more than 60%" covers 60-100%. Again...it could be 100

"less than 20%" definitely means that no more than 20% of people have passports

That would make sense if there weren't 'more than 30%' right beside it

It's pretty easy to understand, really

I didn't say it was as clear as possible, just that it's clear enough to be easily comprehended by anyone not entirely braindead.

^^^According to map legend theory, which color pertains to 3.1%? The lightest blue or the second lightest blue?

How about 8.9, 18.3, and 32.4?

I live in a part of that map in the dark blue. (South Texas) Can I be qualified to speak on this now?

People who don't speak english very well actually tend to be very nice. Unless they're gang members that smuggle guns back to mexico- And even then, they speak english moderately well and still hold doors for you at the grocery store's frozen food section.
Just sayin....

People in the white states probably travel internationally more for a variety of reasons:

1) They make more money on average
2) Those states are also tourist destinations, so travel and tourism is highly emphasized/celebrated in those areas
3) People in those states already live in ethnically diverse areas, so there's no fear or apprehension surrounding leaving the country
4) International flights from Miami, LA, NYC and Boston are cheaper than those from other areas ... and unlike in other areas, those flights also tend to be direct
5) Those areas attract a large number of immigrants ... so perhaps there are lots of first-gen Americans there who have family to visit in other countries

Don't forget that most of the border states are higher percentages, and that is due, in my estimation, more to the fact that it is a border state. I mean, if you live in NC, you are less likely to be taking a weekend trip over to canada or mexico.
