Yeah, I saw that article earlier. It's bullshit....

It's essentially pushing people to use credit and pay interest rates, carry cash, or write checks

It will really fuck those of us who don't have credit cards. I use my debit card for everything. Sure, I could just pull the cash, but what about online shopping?

Article also brought up a similar point. For those with bad credit, who have to pay premium interest rates, it's going to suck to have to get a credit card.

i have a mastercard one but i'm pretty sure those are also affected. I know merchants pay fees to mastercard but i dont know if they also pay the bank (or if mastercard gives the bank a cut).

Either way im sure our moron congress decided putting a limit on those fees would be the best way to fix some non-issue they concocted in their retard brains.

I'm pretty sure that Visa Check Card = Debit Card

Although I may be wrong. Maybe if you elect to use it as Credit instead of Debit when asked, it won't have the spending limit. Doubt it though

Why use a credit card and pay interest on everything you buy?

Shit, I have credit cards, but I never use them. Why? Cause I have the money to pay for myself

you pay off your credit card balance at the end of each month to avoid interest.

i dont know if anyone really knows how credit scores work

it does some, and among the three credit bureaus, the actual impact is going to be slightly different. The bigger thing that has a high weight (i think around 30% of your score) is a the ratio of your available credit to debt.

yeah but that's a different type of debt. No one likes seeing high debt on a revolving account like a credit card.

they definitely do. but long term debt and revolving accounts are calculated differently. I'm not sure what the exact calculation is.

thread is stupid. nobody should ever use a check/debit card that draws directly from their account. it's not protected in any way.

Anyone that uses 100% credits cards can be 100% financially traced by the government.

Every time you use a credit card for rewards, you get 1% back, but the business you used it at pays the credit card company 3%.

Once the money is gone from your account, it's gone, whether you purchased it or not.

Do you know something I don't?

so? i don't have any conspiracy theory fears...i rather like that i can track my financials as closely as i can by using nothing but credit cards

actually, i get 5% back for most of my purchases...no one makes the business accept credit cards...it's a service you pay for, one that is largely considered to be worth the cost due to increase in business you receive by accepting credit cards

Actually, you only get 5% on the place you spend the most money. All other purchases get less than 1%... most of the time being 0.5%... and only 1% if you spend more than $3000. Read the fine print. Credit companies aren't stupid nor are they in business to lose money. Work the math out on paper and you'll see how you're being played.

Quote :
"no one makes the business accept credit cards"

You can't compete without accepting credit cards because of America's dependency on them. Even Chinese takeout accepts credit cards and that says A LOT. If you disagree, I welcome you to prove me wrong by starting a business that doesn't accept credit cards.

Well, don't whine to me when you are denied financial and consumer freedom because the government knows everything you're doing.

I know that I had $200 in fraudulent charges on my debit card and my bank refunded every penny.

It took like 60 days, but they refunded it.

You might want to consider switching banks.
