My friend wants to take me out for dinner Monday night. I want to try a restaurant in the Fayetteville Street area that I haven't been to before (so not Raleigh Times, Sitti, The Oxford, Cooper's, The Pit, Jibarra). Suggestions?

That new Thai place (http://faithai-raleigh.com/) could be worth checking out.

or Humble Pie.

Poole's FTW!!!

I'd say Capital Club 16 but I believe they are closed Monday nights Super bummer cause it is delish!

I haven't tried Gravy myself but have heard decent things. Caffe Luna also good...but close Mondays I think as well.

Dos Taquitos?!

OR FAI THAI! Old Duck and Dumpling just opened with the William D'Auvry menu. The menu looks pretty good. I really wanna try that. I know it isn't exactly Fayet. St. but...close and could be worth trying!

I ate at Sitti once, it was the worst experience of my life; tasteless and overpriced.

Go to Fai Thai! I've been there a couple time and it's really good. Not too pricey and good drinks.

Get the sour curry or the half roasted chicken.

I'm pretty disillusioned with Buku after working there. The food is good but I think the price point at dinner is too high. Lunch there is a great deal though.

i think "awful" is a little extreme in regard to buku. it wouldn't be my first choice down town. But it's decent and is in the fayetteville st. area. The prices for the entrees are a little high. But I thought there were a lot of decent options outside of the main entrees for a decent price. I've only been once (a few wks ago), but everyone I was with seemed to enjoy what they had (there were 7 of us) and we all got something different. Everything I tried was good and they all seemed to be a decent sized portion for the prices at a place like that.

I've been twice. Everything everyone ordered was mediocre-to-poor both times, and the service the second time was atrocious. Never again.

I wish I could but the only reason she's in town tomorrow is because she has a flight out of RDU Tuesday morning I think I'm just going to have her meet me at my work and we'll walk around until we find a restaurant that's open.

Gravy's calamari is the absolute best I've ever had, and their service staff are phenomenal.

I think it's a little pricey on certain things, however.

Went to Jibarra last night.....definitely wasn't impressed. I wouldn't recommend (even though u said you've already been). Small menu, hostess was an airhead, slow service, overpriced food...etc.

Agreed. If I go to Jibarra I like to just get ceviche and drinks. Their main entrees are always overpriced, bland, and uninspired imo. Their ceviche is pretty fantastic though.

If you don't know what a ceviche is, you wouldn't know a good dinner. So take your ass to McDonalds.

Unless things have changed recently, it fits nicely into the "not very good and overpriced" category.
