Qingdao man unhappy with his Lambo, destroys it on National Consumer Day with sledgehammer team
Quote : | "A Lamborghini owner in Qingdao announced that he would smash his Lamborghini car that was bought no more than six months ago in front of Qingdao 1919 International Building Material and Lamp Mall at 3:15pm on March 15 out of dissatisfaction with Lamborghini’s services.
According to the owners announcement that he posted onto the internet, decides to smash the sports car on the World Consumer Rights Day to vent his strong dissatisfaction with and disappointment at Lamborghini’s differentiated services in China and Europe, and its downgraded standard for service providers.
The engine of the newly-bought sports car failed to start on November 29, 2010. After they had contacted Lamborghini’s Qingdao dealer, the car was carried to the designated maintenance shop by a trailer of a maintenance service provider entrusted by Lamborghini’s Qingdao dealer. The engine problem was not fixed, and the bumper and chassis were found damaged after the car was towed to the maintenance shop. As they pointed out the problem, the maintenance service provider shirked the responsibility and ignoring the owners consumer right. After that, they contacted Lamborghini’s CEO Mr. Stephan Winkelmann, the brand’s China headquarters, its after-sales service manager for Asia-Pacific region, and the brand’s owner Volkswagen Group, but the problem was not solved. The owner believes that there is no suitable means to protect his own consumer rights, so he felt that the best way to gain attention would be to destroy the car.
According to the former Lambo owner, Chinese consumers are more and more capable of consuming global luxury products in recent years, however, the global luxury brands work on exploring Chinese market on one hand, and ignore the interests and rights of Chinese consumers. The former owner feels that Lamborghini did not bring their world famous high quality service to China, so he felt that the only way to show his ultimate dissatisfaction was to destroy the car, at least for Lamborghini this gentleman won’t be calling anymore – at least until the insurance payout arrives and he buys another model.
In China a Lamborghini Gallardo such as the one above retails for between $529,000USD and $757,000USD [] depending on specification." |
Dude must be seriously rich, and extremely frustrated, so much so that he would destroy his own $half million+ Lambo
It was a fully planned event, with a purposely selected place and a big poster in the background.

This is neither sad nor infuriating. I feel somewhat bad for the dude that he got such shitty service after buying such an expensive car, but I think the way he chose to voice his dissatisfaction is kind of awesome.
I mean if it was a Miura he destroyed, or some other irreplaceable classic, then yes. That would be sad. A Gallardo? Come on, it's not like they won't be making more of them. Wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being the highest volume Lambo model ever. 3/15/2011 7:23:14 PM |

That's all the damage they could do? I would have thought there'd be a lot more damage done to the car. kinda disappointed in the enthusiasm. 3/15/2011 7:42:27 PM |

Quote : | "kinda disappointed in the enthusiasm" | yea he could have at least doused it in gasoline, torched it, and dropped it from 500 feet onto a giant steel spike
then sold it for $2mil as "art"3/15/2011 10:30:34 PM |

They shoulda have sent it to Top Gear to see if it could out-survive the Tacoma, minus the whole it didn't run to begin with.

I'm far more infuriated by all the stories of people getting ripped off by Jiffy Lube than I am by this.

most infuriating auto story?
easy...
all of the good cars that were canned, and the new "better" replacements
and
all of the BS concerning which cars we can import, when any jack ass can custom build anything as long as he has a VIN plate and half of the frame, and then drive it. 3/16/2011 4:48:50 PM |

Do the guys that buy the new gaming consoles and smash them on day 1 piss you off too?
This just makes him sound like a brat. I'm not sure what he expected the outcome to be other than people laughing at him for wasting that kind of money. 3/17/2011 12:15:20 PM |

That's pretty inventive, actually... I look forward to more Chinese dealings with higher end European brands' customer service. What they don't seem to get (and who could blame them) is that European brands are not known for their dependability, quite the opposite. You're making a statement w/them like; I'm so rich, I can afford not to drive my Jag 6 months a year when it's in the shop... 3/29/2011 10:22:59 PM |

There's no such thing as bad publicity for an exotic car. Or Louis Vuitton handbags. The people who buy these things do so as a way to say "screw the poor". And we would all do the same if we could.

This dude destroyed his M6 after BMW failed to fix it properly for 5 years. Video in link.
http://www.autoblog.com/2013/09/17/watch-man-destroy-his-m6-lemon-with-a-sledgehammer-and-ax/
I wonder what is more fun, the hammer or the ax. I like the part where he hits the passenger window with the ax and the ax goes flying in as well.
Quote : | "But Hadi still isn't finished. He says the car will be repaired so he can destroy it again in Berlin to get his message across to BMW " |
WAT
I still don't understand this mentality, though. Go to BMW and meet with the head, and complain. I am sure that would fix everything. And after it is fixed, go to the media and spill the beans on how you have to go the very top to get your complaints heard after 5 years. That's a win win situation, you get your car fixed, and you also get to silly their name publicly.9/26/2013 9:37:46 AM |
