I''ve driven past it before, and wondered every time "what the fuck do they have that they need a store that big dedicated to containers"

True story:

A friend of mine from work was engaged to the daughter of the dude who founded the Container Store (that's how I first heard of the place). Engaged, like, wedding invitations had been sent out, venue was booked, pre-nup signed, dress bought, etc...but they ended up breaking up a month or two before the wedding.

Basically, the problem was that she wanted a mansion with a horse pasture, and 2.5 kids, and a really high-end picket fence...and he kinda liked being a regular dude, wearing t-shirts and faded jeans, driving around in his old shitbox Taurus, and flying attack jets (which would necessitate living in military towns). I can't remember the exact amount of money she had been given by her parents, but I seem to remember it being something like $7-8 million. That isn't what she stood to inherit someday--that was the little taste she'd already been given, at 20-something years old.

Seemed like a cool enough chick, but they were from 2 very different worlds, and were kind of incompatible as a result.

What exactly do they sell there?

I envision a bunch of tupper ware everywhere.
