But now if you were like "Hey what did you get on your SATs?"

No one would remember. I don't even remember what I made on my SAT. 12 something, but that's all I remember.

yeah my younger brother was all like I got a 1650 on my SAT...and I was like "how the hell did you get that score?" and then I was like "oh yeah, you gotta write now"

my other brother fell asleep during his SAT so we're not even sure what he got

It's not just that they're scored differently, the math section went from algebra 1 and I think trig material to covering up to Algebra 2. I think the lit section got easy, but the writing sucked ass.

Most places I applied to used the ACT (Vandy, UT, Marquette, Georgetown and GT), not the SAT so I dont remember what I got, but I do remember not knowing you could take in a fucking calculator.

[Edited on March 20, 2011 at 11:26 PM. Reason : 34 on the ACT]

It looks like people who made 1400+ remember their scores, and people who made "12 somethings" don't.

Hmmmmm...

^^^^ Makes sense though, if your score isn't memorable you'll be less likely to remember it. I think I got a 1270 but I'm not that sure.

^^^ Shoot I was happy enough with my 12 something on my first SAT. If I got a 1320 I'd stop there.

I actually got deferred from both UNC and NC State because my GPA wasn't very good. Eventually got into both but picked state because I wanted to go into CS.

If I knew I'd switch majors I'd have gone to UNC instead honestly, and I would have definitely been happier with the sports teams I cheer for

I made a 1400 on the SAT, was wait listed and not accepted into UNC-CH, and I was technically a legacy or whatever.

I'm openly bitter.

i had some bitch tell me she was gonna go to the tech, then transfer to a 4 year, then go to lawschool. i asked how her SATs went, she was like I got a 720. "on which part". "combined."

>.<

then she asked what i got. i was like "740... on the math"

I got a 1520...good enough to get in here. One of the girls that I took it with made lower than her boyfriend, and he forgot to bring a calculator. Ex-girlfriend's was so low, she was rejected from ECU. Shame.

^^^^And this was back when their SAT average was like 1250, too.

I took AP classes. I made all As and Bs except for a C in ELP or something. I didn't do much in the way of activities. I didn't take the AP exams. I was blackballed from NHS by a teacher who accused me of cheating (but could never prove it cause I didn't cheat). And I went to a competitive high school--I didn't crack the top ten percent for class rank.

A family member of mine (who was also a legacy kid) made a 1380 on the SAT, was in NHS, was in the top ten percent of her extremely competitive, nationally-recognized high school, did take/make 5s on her AP exams, and she did do a bunch of extracurricular activities. She came along four years before me and didn't get into Chapel Hill either...so we weren't surprised when I didn't.

I guess my mom musta rubbed some people the wrong way when she ditched the sexist pigs at a liberal Chapel Hill to get her PhD from a real school like State.

GO PACK!!!

[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:53 AM. Reason : They really were sexist, and State was better.]

that's wild. I made a 1320 and her AP scores were overall better than mine, and I got into UNC... I know a few people who'd say I was surprised about getting accepted.

i wish i didn't remember my SAT scores, but unfortunately i remember quite clearly that i got an embarrassing 670/630, and then an even more embarrassing 650/650.

i've found that people are much more cryptic about GRE scores. not in this thread though.

[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:43 AM. Reason : also, anyone who just gives a sum for a GRE score should be punched in the face.]

^^^^It has a lot to do with geography. They can only accept so many kids from Wake County, and within a county, only so many kids from each school. Her situation was still insane though...they actually thought there might have been a mistake and called people up and stuff to try to get her paperwork corrected...and they were like, "Nope, no mistake."

^GRE confession: 1280 (640/640). My goal score was 1300, and I was upset that I missed it by 20 points. I told a bunch of people, hoping they would tell me that a 1280 was good, and they did not. AHA

Never heard anyone with that sentiment about GRE scores, but they were 750 analytical and 590 verbal.

[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:50 AM. Reason : Verbal is way harder, and I consider myself to have a good vocabulary]

I actually think all the scores, including your 1140, in this thread are good--even my 1280 GRE that I pretended was bad is good to me.

Except for willembahh. That guy was a jerk about his score and talking smack about how his ex-girl didn't get into ECU. Boooooo on him.

i remember numbers very well

first time i took it i was smart on math (710) and retarded on english (510)
after taking it a 3rd time i finally got a 570 on english and was like 'fuck it'

apparently the test writers opinion on the "best" answer and my opinion differ
