I own a gateway desktop that I purchased in January of Last year. Can't remember the exact processor speed but it's an Intel Core Duo, 6gb ddr2, 1 TB hd.
I picked up a virus and tried to format the hard drive and it worked well at first but became extremely slow at boot up. I've tried formatting again and it did not help. I'm afraid it is a hardware issue. It takes about 30 minutes to an hour after boot up to become usable. After that it works fairly well. Has anyone come across this before? I've gotten mixed results with forums. 3/21/2011 3:02:31 PM |

well i've installed a version of windows 7 professional and it's having similar problems so i'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue of some kind. What kind of hardware issues could cause it to take this long to boot. I'll go back and check the driver statuses when I get home. 3/21/2011 3:32:05 PM |

You did a fresh install and it's still having issues?
I'd look to test memory and hard drive if that's the case. 3/21/2011 5:26:54 PM |
