As most of you probably know by now, I took over ownership of TWW last year. I'd like to think my efforts for tdub have been well spent - but as I've reflected on where we are now compared to a year ago, I have to admit that the sheer amount of effort I have been able to put into the site has not produced the results I've wanted. Don't get me wrong, I knew when I started this there wouldn't be a meteoric rise to Facebook or Twitter level status but I figured we'd at least be more popular than MySpace by now. But it turns out I spend less time working on Site 3, and more time settling debates about who is a bigger troll, telling new users why they can't change their username, harassing expired premies to renew their subscriptions, and deflecting libel lawsuits from people and companies who don't understand what opinions and/or free speech are. Plus, with the preparation for and arrival of my second child, I've had and will have even less time to focus on tdub.

So for the good of the community, I've done five things

- I've appointed Ernie Chief Community Ambassador. He will be responsible for dealing with all the administrative shenanigans I mentioned. His proven no-nonsense track record will ensure that all quarrels, new user inquiries and legal challenges will be met with a response of some combination of "No" and "Fuck no". This will save me a lot of time.

- I've appointed zorthage Chief Egg Hunt Operator. It started as a joke but I now realize the wisdom in this decision. He will manage the Annual Egg Hunt later this month, and will also be in charge of developing other Hunt-related activities for TWW.

- I've appointed FroshKiller Chief Technology Officer. He has consistently demonstrated his insights into the community and his proactive development of the Better Wolf Web greasemonkey script and frequent site suggestions make him a clear choice to spearhead the ongoing development of Site 3.

- I've also established a new, permanent TWW Oversight Committee. Ernie, zorthage and FroshKiller will tri-chair the committee, and will immediately form a selection committee to add ten users at large from TWW. To apply to the selection committee, please submit a one-paragraph essay as a comment to this thread detailing why you would like to be part of the TWW Oversight Committee.

- Finally, I've secured a new owner for TWW. I've got a day job, a wife, 2 kids, 2 dogs, a bird, a moth infestation problem in my garage, and I need to get back to work on my self-driving cars development. It's clear I no longer have time for TWW. So, I've invited nael back to take another swing at running tdub. I honestly think he got a bad rap the first time, and in my talks with him this week he's shown a real eagerness to try it again. I'll stay on as an advisor for a few weeks, but by the end of the semester he should be back in the saddle.

Thanks again for all your love and support over the last year. Hopefully this last contribution of mine will take TWW to new heights (or at least past MySpace).
