Hey guys,
I have been using this Acer Aspire One (Win XP) for a couple of years now, and I love it. I have a 9 cell battery for it, so it can run for quite a while without being plugged in, but lately I have noticed that the wifi has been incredibly slow when the computer is running on battery power. The battery holds a charge just fine, and I have removed and reinstalled the WLAN driver, but it hasn't helped the problem. HTML webpages are loading at somewhere between 56k and DSL speed, and YouTube videos don't seem to want to load at all. Yesterday, I was on battery power (fully charged), tried to play a YouTube video, and after a couple mins it had not loaded at all. I plugged in the power cord and the video started playing immediately.
Any ideas here?

power saving is for wussies. Get a bigger battery if you need 10 more minutes.

I don't think it's a power-saving feature, because I haven't changed any settings in that department, or any other for that matter. I don't know whether it was all of a sudden or gradual... All I can say is that it's been this way for a couple of months now, and nothing I could think to change has made a difference. I will say that the WLAN was also dropping my wireless network before I reinstalled the driver. At first it would cut out every 30 mins or so, then it got to where it was around every minute. The driver reinstall fixed that problem, but didn't seem to have an effect on the speed issue. 4/5/2011 8:12:51 PM |

Maybe a recent update set it back to default somewhere. 4/5/2011 8:52:40 PM |

@walkmanfades
Dude I don't know how I missed your link before, but that was exactly the problem. I guess that the settings went to default when I reinstalled the driver a few weeks ago.
THANK YOU!!! 4/6/2011 12:48:38 AM |
