an interesting piece of trivia... when montreal hosted the olympics, the following season, the Canadiens ended the season the top seed, and won the Stanley Cup. when calgary hosted, the next season the Flames won the president trophy and won the Stanley Cup.

Vancouver hosted this past year, the Canucks have won the Presidents trophy...

I love this, and I'm a Pens fan. I'd rather watch it on Center Ice anyway. Of course it'll be better now that Joe Beninati is gone. We always seemed to get stuck with him and Darren Eliot for a couple rounds every year. With the Devils and Stars out, hopefully versus pairs up Doc and Daryl Reaugh for a while.

since the Canes arent in the playoffs I gotta pick a team to root for so I stay interested. Last year I picked the Blackhawks before their Cup run, so I'll probably stick with them in the west, but would it be sacrilegious to root for the Lightning to come out of the east since they basically knocked us out of the playoffs?

I cant see myself pulling for boston, buffalo, washington, rangers, or pittsburgh, and at least Tampa has some offensive players that will make them fun to watch.

gamecenter live on NHL.com, i don't know how you could be a out of town hockey fan and not know what it is.

Versus is going to show the game, after DET/PHX. It's a Joined in Progress game, they do it ever year. I don't know why they list it as being on Versus on NHL.com when it hardly is, but it will be eventually, less PHX/DET going to OT

Want a snipe? Check out turris. That was a fucking snipe. Turris had far side open, yet still tucked it short side. Semin had half the fucking net to shoot at. Great goal, but far from a snipe.

Also, wow nashville. I picked the ducks, because perry and teemu are on fire, but nashville is all over them. That series was a tough call for me... rooting for nashville, though.

Habs-Bruins: great game tonight by Price, Gomez(!) and Gionta. Bob Cole with the play-by-play on the CBC = classic stuff.

In contrast, this Flyers-Sabres broadcast on CSN is almost unwatchable. These commentators are local cable quality.
