For some unknown reason Verizon is out in the Clinton, NC area. Any reports from the field?

^yes. But we only lost service for about an hour. 3 days later, however, it's now out. Still working on figuring that one out.

Perhaps there was a temporary solution to restore service and now they are dropping the signal to do a thorough repair. Just a wild guess.

Sometimes even if there is an incident that only involves 1 tower, they have to bring down a bigger chunk of the network to fix it. My guess is that 1 or more towers was damaged during the tornadoes, they tried to fix them individually, but realized they would have to bring down the network to do it properly.

probably fubar's something trying to do a storm repair, or another contractor cut a line feeding your tower trying to do a storm repair.

i dunno, i heard somewhere that sprint is opening up their 4G today and running it on verison's towers, i have no idea if this is true or has anything to do with it, and i dont really understand it fully...so basically i'm worthless

I heard that the FCC made data fall under common carrier, but I expect that to take 2-3 years to implement and enforce.

Also, I'm 99% sure LTE and WiMax aren't even on the same frequency band - no sharing. Some of the 3G bands overlap, but see above - soon it won't make a hill of beans.

a friend in sanford lost power from the tornado, came back sunday, went out monday. the power company only patched up some wires temporarily and then flew in one of those big metal monstrosities that are like 100ft tall carrying power lines, took power down to put in the permanent fix.
