Awesome experiences, to me, involve a deviation from normal. I live in Clinton, NC so I generally enjoy opposites. Big cities, non-flat landscape, ocean, mountain, desert, lots of rain, lots of vegetation, lots of snow, lots of culture, etc.

This is why my favorite place (thus far) is Victoria, BC. That place is A+

For what it's worth, I prefer Seattles Best in a chain - but you'll have NO problem finding a bazillion coffee places. And half the freeloaders there use them as an office.
