Actually I'd say all beauty pageants are horrible, but this is especially fucked up.

Pageant mom gives her 8 year old botox and "virgin waxes"

Yeah, the fucked-up moms who engage in this at the expense of their children need psychiatric care.

I'm cool-though mostly disinterested in--pageants in general.

Also, eight year-olds, dude.

I watched an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras out of morbid curiosity one day. People were spray-tanning babies. Like less than a year old babies.

What a fucking shit bag. Lock this fucking bitch up and take the license away from the asshole doctor. Is the mom pressing her daughter so much with this pageant shit because she is an unattractive person? This story is shocking to me and belongs in that shock thread.

i would hope that after this aired, law enforcement of some kind will investigate which doctor is giving her the botox. she doesn't seem too bright, so it wouldn't be hard to figure out. the doctor should have his/her license taken away for sure.

Pretty hot for an eight year old though. She could easily pass for nine and a half.

This is very disturbing....I hope she doesn't get taken away from her family but I hope child protective services can come in and take a close look at this.

In the video she said "other mom's are doing it too." like that is some sort of justification.

I don't think the "normal" parents are shitbags. I do think they're teaching their kids to be superficial.

meh... it's the mother's kid. she can do what she wants with it.

If nature were not intervened by ourselves, mother's would be the "owners" of their kids lives until the turning point at which the kids are grown-up and become the boss of their parents.

The mom says the story was made up.

Quote :
"Her deposition came after her daughter was taken into care earlier this week by US child protection officials.

"The truth is that I have never given my daughter Botox, nor allowed her to get any type of waxing, nor is she a beauty pageant contestant," she wrote.

Upton said her daughter was examined by a doctor at UCLA who confirmed that the girl had never been injected."

"In a sworn declaration to a California court, Sheena Upton said the tabloid newspaper gave her $200 to pose as "Kerry Campbell" - a mother who injected her daughter Britney with Botox for beauty pageants, TMZ.com reports.

The part-time beautician from San Francisco said she then appeared on US TV shows Good Morning America and Inside Edition for an additional fee. Appearing as Campbell, Upton told viewers that she gave her daughter Botox and waxed her bikini line so she would become famous as a teenager.

Her deposition came after her daughter was taken into care earlier this week by US child protection officials."

I really hope this is the real story. Far "less bad" than the botox/pageant story.

The Parents Television Council (PTC) is outraged over TLC's "Toddlers and Tiaras" episode featuring a 3-year-old dressed as the Julia Roberts prostitute character in "Pretty Woman" (watch the video).

"We have a serious problem when a network formerly known as The Learning Channel features a toddler, who probably hasn't even learned to read, dressed as a prostitute showing off her sexy strut," the PTC told TMZ.

"For years we've seen adult sexuality being inappropriately and aggressively foisted on innocent young children, but children today are being sexualized at younger and younger ages," PTC added. "All available data suggests they will suffer for it later in life."

Wendy Dickey, the mother of the toddler who sported the skimpy costume complete with thigh-high boots, defended the outfit and said it's no more revealing than a gymnastics suit.

"I'm raising my child just as well as any mother does ... I take my kid to church every week ... at least I'm not forcing them into sports and getting my child injured like some parents," Dickey said.

People need to look at their own family and what they're doing. I don't know why people are focusing so much on pageant moms when there's much more harmful things people are letting their children do!"

Why are people focusing on your 3-year-old, Ms. Dickey? Maybe because you dressed her in a trashy sex-worker's outfit complete with thigh-high boots and allowed the whole thing to be featured on national television."

Anyone else feel an overwhelming urge to beat this woman's head in with a brick?

Not saying some of the practices behind child pageants did not get out of hand, and I don’t particularly like any type of pageants, but at what point does the society has a right to intervene about how someone is raising their kids? There are parents that make their 3 year olds do things such as gymnastics and motocross, arguably more dangerous activities, more often than so the choice of activity is influenced by parent’s own reflection on what they wish they were. And as far as going far with it, part of it is just our culture of one-upping the Joneses. Pressure is high on parents to start kids out doing SOMETHING early, I mean there are 14 year olds circumnavigating the globe solo in sailboat these days. Certainly there should be a limit of how far you can push your chile, but where does society set it?

Society sets the limit at implied sexuality, because certainly nothing else forced upon a child will ever set a few screws loose. Nope, obsessing over your kid's sports or martial arts or w/e abilities as you attempt to mold them into the future world champion won't do anything. Better start it as early as possible!!!

ive actually talked about this to cody. not the pageant stuff, i am not fan of pageants, but getting our future kids involved in stuff early.
my think is, we dont wanna push them, but i feel like maybe sometimes you should, if you can spot a talent.
but i dont want to do that.
but part of me thinks maybe i should...a little.
i know there are several hobies my mom started me in as a child and i stopped pretty quickly because i wanted to play in the mud outside my house.
i'm glad she didnt make me, but there is another part of me that sorta wished she had.

im very torn.

chances are i will not start my kid in anything and then force them through, but i often tell cody from time to time...we should get our kids to play violin! and stuff like that.

God I hate that show Toddlers and Tiaras. Every time I make the mistake of turning it on I start ranting at the TV. And I also hate that it seems like a lot of the families they film are from NC

I feel the same way. I really wish my parents had pushed me more when I was a little kid to persevere with a hobby. Not saying I had to be going to a new lesson every day, but it would have been nice if they made me stick with soccer or something. Maybe then I'd have more drive in life

My mom put me in dance lessons when I was two and a half years old and made me go. I am so glad that she did because I ended up loving it and took it for 16 years. She wasn't crazy psycho about making me go, it was just "understood" that I was going.
I miss it terribly

It wasn't anything like this garbage though.

I resent my mom to this day for not letting me take dance or do gymnastics.

I love love love dance, and wish I could have been apart of it for a little moment in life. I keep thinking about taking classes...I hope I get to be in there with 5 year olds
