We have a specific cabinet for these containers but there is no order and usually I just toss that junk in the cabinet when unloading the dishwasher. I tried organizing it before and there seems to be no point when just stacking them because it gets into disarray rather quickly.

I will throw away the crap containers but I am still left a good amount of decent containers. HELP! I need options.

I organize it jenga-style... we're good as long as nothing falls out when I open it

my containers are organized pretty well in stacks...

I open a door in the bottom counter, stick my foot in front so that the containers don't all tumble out when I open the door, and toss it in there with the rest.

Stack the containers, lids in a larger container (square 6x6).

maybe the solution would be to buy a big set of them that are made to nest together well and share lids

there are 17 in that cabinet now and a few more in the fridge with leftovers in them and they'd match right up with those in there.

buy these and throw the rest away, you can get a full set for $20 at BJ's

I actually kept all the bastard mismatched ones but put them in a bin in the pantry, they only come out for holiday meals when we send people out with leftovers. Anything actually put in the fridge to stay here is in the rubbermaid ones with the snap on lids.

OH SNAP, DAMN, AND SICK BURN!!! ATTA GIRL!!!!

I'm def going through them tomorrow to get rid of the throw-aways. People have been graciously bringing us food since Orion's birth so we are now overloaded with throw-aways. I just know the good contains I have don't snap together and it is not in the budget to go out and buy some that do. I think I will take LK's advice and find a basket around the house to put lids in and try stacking the others.

I would totally get rid of them all but I just know I like to cook for people and I don't always want them using my good dishes and I don't want to buy disposable ones every time.

what i posted on your FB wall, lol:

i get the really really big ziplock bags and put all square lids in one, all round lids in one, all rectangle lids in one. then i stack each like shaped thing in stacks together and stick the lid bags next to the stacks. i dunno...probably not the best system but otherwise it is just a shit show haha

never had a problem matching the lid to the right container--the lid that says ricotta doesn't go with the container that says coolwhip

I too am a student of the punchmonk/AlaskanGrown method

it basically takes me about 30 seconds - 1 minute to find any given lid

no point in organizing, for me

[Edited on May 13, 2011 at 12:20 AM. Reason : and I am anal about organizing everything else in the house]
