i see them getting more popular since most phones have the ability to read them now...it's a great way to advertise in a way that doesn't cost any money...you can have it printed on a flyer and take people directly to your website without having to write it down, type it in, etc.

i've been to a few museums recently that had these around the exhibits, linking to more detailed informational pages than on the placards.

i'm quite a fan of that use.
