Color me confused.


We have a park in Virginia Beach called Mt Trashmore.

I thought public parks were owned by..... the public. And the government was owned by... the public.

Can anyone explain why the public can get arrested on trespassing on its own land and how the government has the right to close a park?

Public parks are owned by either the city, the state, or the federal government. They all have the right to restrict their property's usage.

The government may answer to the public, but we certainly don't "own" it. With your argument, you could just walk up and steal a police car or commandeer a jet plane.

I went to check my mail today but the post office was closed because of the holiday. But I needed to check my mail so I broke into the publicly owned post office. As far as I'm concerned, its basically my post office.

Can't believe the bitchass cops arrested me and charged me with breaking and entering into a federal building

There's a difference. A post office is not a "public park" meant for playing and having a good time. It's okay for people to play between sun up and and sun down, but magically we aren't allowed to play passed our bedtime.

I like to run at night and since Mt Trashmore is the only elevation above sea level in the area, it would be cool to run up the mountain without people gossiping about you while you exercise. The fact that I sleep during the day, and am awake at night, it's more convenient to run between the hours of 3am to 5am.

Nahhh, it's too hard to open more than one location. People are not honest nowadays and businesses don't make enough to clear that overhead of stealing anymore. In order to expand, I'd have to franchise which means each store will have an individual owner so I don't have to deal with stealing, the owner will. I will get my paycheck for using my name and ideas, but it'll never be the same as you coming to my store right now and getting something made for you by the original owner himself.
