i was also going to point out that no self-respecting hipster is playing a song from the first MGMT album in 2011

BUT WHATEVER

the secret is to drop the original EP version of the song on people

halfway through it has a depeche mode-style horn riff and goes on an electro-calypso breakdown

"...mainland guitar manufacturers entered the ukulele market around 1915... In the 20s, mainland manufacturers such as Gibson, Harmony, Regal, National, Dobro and Martin (one of the most popular and successful maker... see our Martin SO ukulele), were mass-producing ukuleles by the thousands. Martin produced their first uke in 1916 based on the Nunes design... http://www.ukes.com/ukelele_history.html"

Yeah the uke definitely had no place in early 20th century string bands

^ What would we do without the style police? Keeping Raleigh safe from unsanctioned creative expression since 198X.

i'm not saying an old timey band can't have a uke or two

there's a dude playing accordion
and some sunglasses wearing fucker hitting a percussive box
so its not JUST ukes

all I'm saying is that its a fun interpretation of a song that was so overplayed I couldn't ever listen to it again - they breathed a little life into it
