Ok, so I am semi-remodeling my master bath... pretty much upgrading the floor to tile (and i'm going to try my hand at installing heated tile!)
I figure this is as good a time as any to upgrade my toilet... now I have done exactly zero toilet shopping, but does anyone have a toilet they absolutely love? what features would you people recommend? (such as a built-in bidet) 6/3/2011 8:54:12 AM |

Get one of the Toto toilets with the built in bidets, butt dryers, seat warmers, etc. I know it sounds utterly overkill but I miss mine 6/3/2011 9:31:09 AM |

Flushing power is pretty important. That was my main thing I was looking at. Second was design. I got a great Kohler that I havent had to plunge in 2 years (since I put it in).

I honestly thught this thread would be readin Tdub from the pooper on my phone...of which I am doing right now due to work blocking the IP. In all seriousness, if you've ever been to japan you'll know about the heated seats usually are at a minimum but they come with built in fan, bedae (personally I wouldn't but to each his own), and automatic lid lifter and auto flush option. It sounds ridiculous but until you try it you won't know how heavenly it is to walk in, pants off, plop a turd, then just up and wash your hands without touching anything else. 6/3/2011 11:14:16 AM |

Dude the bidets are awesome. I really miss that. Apparently you can get some of the models here in the US. I'm going to start saving up money for a Toto washlet now that I know this. 6/3/2011 11:35:10 AM |

My house has Eljer toilets and they suck. For all of the reasons a toilet could be judged to suck. 6/3/2011 12:33:37 PM |

Yup. They do. Most builders put in the cheapest low water flush crappers they can.
You cant really go wrong with Kohler, however. Top notch stuff. 6/3/2011 1:33:04 PM |

The Kohler Cimarron is fairly decent. I think the class 6(?) model is out now. 6/3/2011 2:38:53 PM |

One of the first things I did after buying my house was to replace the toilets. Both of them now are Kohler and it seems like they'd flush just about anything. I don't remember the model though. 6/3/2011 6:18:09 PM |

I had a busted one and replaced mine right when I bought the house. Didn't have much $$$ though, so I cheaped out.
My only recommendation is to get a taller one. I think mine is 15" (Which is the smallest made...I think it's 15") and I wish I had gotten a taller one for comfort. As it stands now, it sits awfully low and I wish it were higher 6/3/2011 7:30:47 PM |

Make sure to get the elongated bowl or whatever it's called. I can't stand tiny toilets that leave no option other than for my junk to mash against the front of the bowl and get wet in the water below. Whatever jackass designed those shitty toilets must not have much of a penis.
Actually, one of the Jackass movies has a really good example of how to test a toilet to make sure you're buying the right one. ] 6/4/2011 3:27:08 AM |

I replaced mine with this one: http://www.americanstandard-us.com/toilets/champion-4-right-height-elongated-1-piece-toilet/
I used to need a plunger at least once a month with the old toilet, now I don't even know where it is. I mean, it's called the "Champion", it's gotta be a badass shitter.
It's big, it's comfy, it's got an elongated bowl, and it's relatively quiet for the incredible flushing power it has. 6/4/2011 7:27:45 AM |

I would imagine a one-piece toilet is not very fun to install, either. Very heavy and cumbersome to try and mount a flange that you cant even see and make sure you set it straight down on.
If you buy that thing... for God's sakes man, don't overtighten the bolts

I've been looking for a toilet that can flush a bucket of golf balls. Just in case, ya know?

LOL, wrong link.
I have the two-piece version, much cheaper. http://www.americanstandard-us.com/products/productDetail.aspx?id=4228
It will still, theoretically, flush a bucket of Golf balls if you are so inclined. 6/4/2011 3:11:29 PM |
