Seriously though, go see an O's game. Camden yards is awesome.

Also, they let you take food and drinks into the ballpark (not alcohol though) so you don't have to pay outrageous ballpark prices.

Aquarium and Inner Harbor. Go eat a real crab cake somewhere. Phillips is a chain outside of MD now but the ones there are still better. But yeah Inner Harbor is the best thing Baltimore has going for it.

This is not even remotely true. The aquarium is fine, and the weird dragon/swan boats are sort of neat, but the Inner Harbor is by far the least interesting part of Baltimore.

Second the O's game. Gorgeous park and plenty to do pre-game around it. It's a fun social experience.

Fells Point/Federal Hill.

Been up here for two weeks on business. I would suggest eating at Nicks Seafood House if you're looking for a hangout spot.

Whatever you end up doing, report back how it went. I've been up here awhile and haven't been many places yet.

Downtown near JHU was Bourbon Street

decent

Baltimore goes from high end to ghetto in 2 microseconds though

also

you might get robbed and die

you will not get robbed and die unless you decide to go walking down mcculloh with your ipod out at 1 am

but yes, the gentrification is very spotty

So I've heard that Baltimore has really been cleaned up, and that's it's a much nicer city than it was, say, 15 years ago. How true is this?

Thinking about a grad school there and I'm at the point where I'm assessing if I want to live at a certain location or not.

how has pit beef not been mentioned yet?

or little italy?

Ok, here: go to Chaps Charcoal Restaurant on Pulaski Highway. Try the pit beef - it's the best you can get in MD (since my Uncle who owned a PB business died, RIP). Anyways, it's a perfect lunch/informal dinner spot.

If you're looking for something more formal, I'll suggest Amicci's or Chiapparelli's, two gems of an italian joint in little italy.

Other than that... the area surrounding Hopkins isn't great when the sun goes down, especially to the North and East. The general area around Baltimore Cemetary contains some of the most dangerous blocks in America. Just be mindful of it - Baltimore's a great place to visit, but it goes from great to ghetto faster than any city in America (besides maybe norfolk).

oh, and John Waters is a goddamn freakshow.

You miss the Preakness by about a month.

That is by far the best time to be had in Baltimore.

I've only been once since. It was annoying only because I knew what it was before. It was still a better time than you'd have most other places in Bmore.
