I'm surprised to see the higher pings on TWC. They normally take Centurylink to the cleaners in that category.

You can get 20ms ping with Centurylink if you have an engineer disable interleaving on your line (error correction)

^^ won't that affect performance when running asynchronous transfers?

If it doesn't why do they enable it in the first place?

^if you know anything about computers you will cry/ die a little when you leave that blazing fast internet behind. Summer school used to be the tits there. I could pull down so much bandwidth I'd saturate my hard drive.

I've got symmetric 20Mbit at work, and I can get up to 25/3 here at the house. It's just enough to make me think it's fast. It was the NCSU pings that made me sick. I'd play games in the sub-10ms range

paying for 10 down & .75 up. suddenlink cable in rocky mount. using wifi through a couple of walls that usually knocks about 1mbps or so off the speed at the modem.

U-Verse 12/1.5. Daughter is watching a cartoon on Netflix from the AppleTV so maybe that's to explain for the slightly lower d/l speed. I usually get just shy of 12 down during previous tests.

Damn TWC's upload speeds BLOW! But I can't really complain, I am on their 4Mbps DL package and getting ~14. Oh the advantages of living out in the country and being the only person on the service.

ouch indeed. wife doesn't want to spend any more on internet. that will last until i get a paying job, then the twc will have to do . . . her parents less than .5 mile away get uverse, but still unavailable at her house . . . ridiculous

but like i've said before internet on average in this country sucks across the board. their is little excuse for lack of super broad band uncapped internet in any city of size. with RTP next door internet here on average is poor considering. stupid monopolies.

At least you can get DSL. Imagine if your only option was Hughes Net. You'd be paying $100/mo. for those speeds, and you would have a daily cap.

1 of the downsides of living in the country, lol.

^I used to tear up some Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament

I had a friend call me about internet at his house. He's over 1/4 mile back into the woods from the road. They won't even run him a phone cable for DSL back to his house. Satellite or do without
