Give it sand deep enough to bury itself, keep the cage very humid and warm. And, you know, food is good.

It's a hermit, just leave it alone or it will yell at you to get off of its lawn.

Also you need to not have just one. They are social and like friends.

Some Permethrin should take care of your crabs.

As they get hungrier they get meaner you could say. If you think it's cute to hold it in your hand and so forth, it could one day pinch you and just not let go. Happened to me once.

Again, when I was 10.

Evidently they can live for quite a long time, and (as has been mentioned) are social and like to have some friends. Something other than a really small cage would probably be appreciated as well...

Best of luck with your crustacean friend!

Don't put terrestrial crabs in a fish tank though. They will drown.

Get him some friends and also deep enough moistened sand so he can bury himself as was earlier stated. Also, I would get him some stuff to climb on, a 10 or 20 gallon tank to live in and a temperature/humidity gauge (I can't remember what the actual name for it is) to put in the 'crabitat' to monitor said temp. and humidity.

I would get him a solid gold Rolls Royce and filet mignon every night.

I used to have on and he went missing for months. Then in the middle of my mother's book club of all the prissy rich wifes, he came out and scuttled across the floor and all of them where scared.

This thread made me lol.

Also, try and watch him switch shells, it's like you can never catch them do it! It's like waiting for water to boil and then you blink and POOF new shell.

Only reason I know they look like the aliens on MIB is cause I'd clean the dead ones.

LeBron James and I are approaching our 1 year anniversary! Sadly, Bosh and Dwyane Wade did not make it more than a few months, but we are still interested in expanding our crab family this summer.

Word up to Skwinkle. She knows her shit when it comes to crabs.

Spooky, Biggie and I don't think the one under the bridge actually has a name yet.

Buddy

I haven't seen Sherman in a while. He molted a couple weeks ago and I thought he was dead because I saw a crab out of his shell, but it was just his molty-bits.

There is a big aquarium where I work that has, by my count, 7 aquatic hermit crabs in it (along with about 10 fish, corals, anemones, etc.)

I try to locate them when I walk by it, but those little guys are good at hiding. All the rocks and coral give them plenty of sheltered spots.

I had a betta fish that only ate table scraps who loved fliet mignon. I originally bought some dried bloodworms that were made specifically for bettas, but he wouldn't eat them. I used to drop bloodworms on him and try to hit him in the head like that game in taco bell where you get a prize for landing a quarter on the little pedestal, but inevitably they'd just sink to the bottom of the tank and sit there forever.

He didn't eat for close to three weeks after I got him and he looked like death. Then one night I got the idea to drop a sauteed shrimp on him. The shrimp floated past his head and he flipped out. He pinned it to the bottom of the tank and was just tearing it to pieces. From that point he just ate whatever I ate.
