So there is a wedding reception tonight at the hotel I am staying in and over heard the greatest words ever "OPEN BAR" considering trying to crash the reception and drink some free booze. Should I do it? Any tips and how to pull it off without looking out of place and kicked out?

yes do it...but only if it seems to be a medium to larged sized reception w/o a sit down dinner

it'd be easier with a buddy. i'm guessing you don't have a buddy?

find people to talk to. drink free alcohol. eat free food.

if it is a smaller wedding OR a sit down dinner...well...it'll be a little awkward. and you'll probably get found out. lol.

I've done it before. As long as you're dressed appropriately and it's a larger reception (100+ people), you'll fit in. If it's a buffet reception, wait until people have started to dance before wandering in.

judging from the screen name your assumption is probably correct.

well obviously since I am in a hotel I am probably traveling for one reason or another. So yeah I'm out on business right now so no buddy available. I'm trying to figure out the dress right now as long as I don't need a jacket I'll be good.

well excuuuuuse me sometime people travel in pairs. or even threes!

but yea, just be casual. and maybe to a walk by or whatever to scope it out before plunging in

100+ people and you're golden (unless it is a seated dinner in which case it would be a pretty $texas wedding in which case you would probs need a jacket and it probs wouldn't be in a hotel)

lol some creepy dude crashed my girlfriend's brother's wedding last summer. Dude had the balls to dance with the bride and two of the bridesmaids (including the gf) before the groom kicked his ass out. pretty funny now but creepy then.

I did this with a lady friend. It was a first date and we were at the Rooselvelt hotel. We saw people going through a door and saying baccardi as the password. She was feeling adventurous so we dove in. There were only about 20-30 people there and we just hung out together for the longest and had about 5 drinks. Then we started talking to a group of people and the bridesmaid came to talk to them then asked "so who are you" at that point we looked stupid and she told us we needed to leave so we left.

Best response there would probably be old high school friends of the groom. Odds are he invited some but has little idea about what they look like now.

Unfortunately the reception was not at the hotel, they were just staying there. Fortunately half the wedding party came to the bar I was at, which before them only had 5 other people plus the band that was playing and started partying and buying drinks and stuff. It was a traditional Scottish wedding apparently as the groom and a number of other people where all wearing kilts. It was quite amusing and a good time was had by all.
