Given that the new GOP legislature is pushing a constitutional amendment to try to double ban marriage (double b/c there is already a law against it), I wouldn't think any time soon. Basically, it'll be when SCOTUS makes it so.

Until then, stopping them from wasting too much time and money on this constitutional amendment (which may go further to the point of kicking couples off each others healthcare benefit packages & ending townships' domestic partner registries) is about the best we can do in NC. That, and give Dems back control of either the NC House or Senate (either one) next election cycle so their will be an easy way to keep this effort from happening again.

If you mean anyone who identifies as LGB, that's about 3.5% of the population, a little smaller than Ohio.

If you mean anyone who has admitted to having same-sex relations, that's about 8.2% of the population, bigger than Texas.

If you mean anyone who has reported same-sex attraction, that's about 11% of the population, almost the size of California.


As an aside, the portion of the population that has undergone some steps toward transition, estimated at 0.3%, is a little bigger than Delaware.

I am so happy and excited for NY. What the hell is wrong with people who love one another and want be in a caring monogamous relationship getting married? Heteros are setting the bar for divorce in this country and we are still trying to hold back homos from being together in marriage. Does not compute. Maybe if we go ahead and legalize it, gay couples will set the example for how a marriage is supposed to last.
