frosh mentioned it earlier and i was reading about it some.
will you guys give me a few pennies of bitcoins? i don't know how it works but i think i will play with them today since i have a day with nothing to do. is it like the protein folding thing? meaning, is that how you mine them?

its so funny to see how its gone from obscurity to everyone knows what they are. My ex bf is mining them...hopefully their worth will go back up soon. He's used it to order stuff but he doesn't know what quality it is. 6/28/2011 9:51:58 AM

It's a gamble and be prepared to do a lot of work just to recoup your investment. IMO, not worth it, especially if you don't have decent hardware already. 6/28/2011 11:20:52 AM

^it's in the interest of the miners to prevent additional clients from connecting to mine. The system releases something like 1 bitcoin per 10 minute interval. To control that flow the network adjusts difficulty for "locating a bitcoin".
So if every joker with a computer joined up (assuming everyone had equal processing power) it would become proportionally harder to find a coin. So we tell everyone it sucks so they'll peace out and we can get back to finding lots of coins.
However this would also change the value of a coin in relation to the dollar, so the question is whether it would come out in the wash.
