Expires tomorrow at midnight.

This one is going to be way worse than the NFL and has the potential to be long and ugly. One thing is for sure is that owners won't be paying but a fraction of the guaranteed money that is in the current deal.

This sucks because you could make the case that the NBA is as hot as it has been since Jordan retired right now.

Brandon Marshall said awhile back that if there was an NFL lockout he would play in the NBA

Wonder if any NBA players are gonna try their hand at the NFL if there is no season

Lebron would be a beast, just don't count on him to kick a clutch field goal

Wade would pull his clit muscle in the first quarter

No NBA player would even be a part time NFL player without at least 12 months of dedicated training. Thinking someone could just waltz onto the field is silly.

Conversely, several NFL players could probably play in the NBA without much training. People play pick up basketball. People don't play pickup football with guys who run a 4.4 and can bench a Hyundai.

Iverson, Desean Jackson and Carl Crawford probably could have been all stars in any of their sports.

And don't get me started on soccer. I'm convinced that if it was "cool" for urban black youths to play, we would the buttfuck the World Cup every time.

Owners complaining that barely any teams are making money. Meanwhile, the Warriors were sold for what, $400-500M

If it's truly that hard to make money owning a basketball team, wouldn't teams with no history of success be sold for a little bit less than half a billion?

If I remember correctly, 22 of the 30 teams are losing money. That's quite a few.

Making money != Team Worth. A lot of European soccer teams are in a fair share of debt but couldn't be purchased without large sums of money.

^^^ AI was a beast in high school, i believe he is still considered the best high school football player in VA history..

he probably could have translated to the NFL if he wanted to, he was a good enough QB. and he is the same height as Michael Vick =/

I think there's a ~65% chance they miss the season but if they do work something out I think it'll be a 50 game season.

The owners basically took a business risk investing a lot more money into their business right before a massive economic recession. Now they are asking the players to finance their losses. Players only have a set number of years to make money while the owners have decades to recoup their losses.

Player salaries are fixed at 57% of revenues so they have only grown at the rate league revenues have grown. The owners however have increased their team expenses 5x faster by making huge investments in their franchises right before all the corporate endorsements came to a screeching halt.

The one thing the owners are correct to put a stop to are the sign and trades and the 5 year guaranteed contracts that the players have proven they will abuse. Vince carter, eddy curry, Jerome James, etc

It's a smart idea. There is no better way to stay in shape and get paid until the deal is made.

Someone on sports radio (I think Petros and Money) were discussing Kobe's popularity in China and how he could go over there for a few months and make $Beijing.

That's been expected for a couple of years now. It's pretty common for exceptionally big men. His stats, for someone that big, have been remarkable. Usually that height gets you Shawn Bradley numbers (lots of blocks, not many points, not many min.).

he made a killing from endorsements in China, and probably still will. no need to risk your ability to walk when you've got bank like Yao.
