Since this thread continues to show up every 1.5 months, I will work on the app and try to finish sometime before this site dies. I have about 2/3rds of it done its that last 1/3 around making it look less ugly that is killin' me.

I agree, that would be awesome. If there is ever a standard for push notifications, you could have one app and register it against website X. That would be slick as hell.

But notifications are one of the big reasons to have an app. Other than that, its hardware integration (gps/location, camera/picture integration, etc). Otherwise, you're just recreating the wheel for a website, might as well just have a mobile friendly site and work with iPhone/Android/Blackberry/.

i wrote one a few months ago that does push notifications for your inbox.

never actually submitted it, though. i suppose i could clean it up and submit it now...

Inbox notifications are not a priority for me. I worked on mobile uploads, custom quick post buttons, and mobile optimizations.
