Is this an unofficial plate for smoking weed? I see a very large number of vehicles with the Smokey Mountains vanity plate and most don't strike me as big supporters of the national and state park systems.

There is apparently literature distributed within the public school system that lets teachers and faculty know how to spot gang apparel, etc which mentions that this plate is "often chosen by drug dealers"

are all seen QUITE frequently on the cars of the blacks

true story, just about anytime i see one of those plates, I can expect to discover a black driving said vehicle.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this! I rarely see a white person driving a car with said license plates. And the watermelon ones just prompt me to say, "C'mon man!"

I've heard only a small portion of the yearly fee (to have this tag) actually goes to whatever charity/system it supports. Thus I'm just against giving the state any more money for my yearly tag renewal.

Drugs and vice guy at rpd associated these plates with drug/gang activity.

said the bp = blood pride

so I always assume if it's on an outback an the lady driving has her armpit hair flapping in the breeze it's legit and if it's on something with 22's I try and not judge.

^4 good to know, but that's still too low a percentage for me to want to pay extra. Outside of the (assumed increased) cost to make the plate, why shouldn't 90-95% of the extra cost go to the cause every year? Seems shady.


On topic...I've never noticed any racial trends related to these license plates.
