My wife´s cousin is coming over from Europe and is interested in getting a laptop while in the US. Does anyone know if anyone other than Apple sells a laptop with a Spanish layout in the states? I´ve looked around at dell and lenevo´s sites, but i don´t see a BTO option. 7/15/2011 1:21:09 PM |

But seriously you can pick one up online:

Actually don't know if that one has the Spanish layout. There's only a few differences right?

It is pretty different... More than just adding the ñ key.

All the letter are in the same place. That's the important part right?
You can always change the keyboard format within windows and they can type like they normally would on a US keyboard and it would work. If they're not an experienced typer and have to look at the keyboard for particular keys then you could put stickers on the keys indicating the spanish mapping.
The operating system is what determines the layout of the keyboard, not the keyboard. Plugging in a Spanish keyboard to a computer will still use the US mapping unless you switch it in the operating system.
I suggest trying this first:

We occasionally have one come through the outlet, but I'm pretty sure its not possible to configure a lenovo laptop with the spanish keyboard in the US. 7/15/2011 7:07:39 PM |

When a German was here at the company I work for, he asked me about a German layout for his keyboard. Unfortunately Apple didn't make a German layout that I could see. I tested my MBP out and found that I could change the keyboard format. That would have been fine for me, as I don't look at the keyboard when typing, but he was an older guy. 7/15/2011 10:42:17 PM |

Yeah, i just thought that since spanish is so common, and that apple does it in the US seems like someone else would as well. 7/16/2011 1:22:53 PM |
