^^ Pretty sure there are lots of states where you can own automatic weapons. But it take permits many; money more.

My dad worked with a guy in NC that somehow had a 50cal, but he probably also went to HS with the Sheriff.

^Yeah friend is a gun buff and former ncsu rifle team member was telling me theres a lot of stuff you can get if you go to a certain class of license but to get that license you have to waive your right to search and seizure so basically the cops could just roll up to your house and search without a warrant most of the time.

yeah, you can basically get almost anything legally, including suppressors. It does require going though a lot of hoops in permits and licenses, but mostly its a lot of waiting and some money.

^If a crime has been committed in your area and evidence shows that a certain type of weapon system was used that can only be obtained with certain permits (legally that is), the police can obtain a warrant to seize the firearm for tests. It doesn't mean cops will roll to your house and take your shit every weekend. Its on rare occasions, but they still require a warrant.
