^^I don't like them because you're eating a dish with a semi soft texture and then out of nowhere - CRUNCH! I hate texture changes. Same reason I hate egg salad with celery in it. Also, I don't like the way water chestnuts taste.

I had no idea so many people hated them.

I grew up eating them in stir fries and this shrimp and rice dish we used to make on sundays... love'em.

I'm indifferent to water chestnuts. If I'm out and order some Asian food I'll eat them if they're included. If I'm preparing my own stuff I don't bother with them.
