they suck.. They fired a lot of former Piedmont/Eastern employees before they would have to match their retirement funds (just for that reason).

I had a death in my family that now has a funeral scheduled about 45 minutes before my flight was supposed to take off. I was trying to switch it to a later flight or to change it to a city closer to the funeral home but the operators in India were having none of it without charging me $421 on my $149 ticket...

They did say that I can send a copy of the death certificate and apply for a refund, but that's almost insulting at the moment. I'll need a week or so to recover before I can do asinine paperwork.

probably cheaper to look for a one way ticket on a non-shitty airline at this point.

This is true but they all require it. Even my work did.

Unfortunately, if you didn't have to show a death cert, then everyone would try to get bereavement fares/exceptions.
