The friday song has the production to be a CLASSIC. Its one of the best beats in a long time but the lyrics and delivery are not even up to par with rebecca black.

Production in pop is top notch. Thats the main reason the songs are good. It doesn't really matter what you say or how you say it if the beat is damn great.

See, I have a hard time liking songs if I don't like the lyrics, though there are some songs that are just so damn catchy I can't help myself.

And some songs are horrible but I enjoy them because I enjoy them.

But on the whole, pop is designed to be a commercial success, not to say anything deep. And that is fine for what it is. If you dig it, go for it, I'm not here to shit on your happiness.


I just think it sucks.

The reason why it seems that modern music sucks is due to the fact that only the absolute best of the older music is actually played now. None of the absolute shit from '96 makes it on the air at all. So all you are exposed to now from '96 is the better/best music from that time. Thus a comparison between past and present music is to compare 90% good with 70% shit respectively.

^correct. Which means most people should be listening to older music. Pop is very boring in comparison to the large body of good music that has come and gone, and the talent level and musicianship is absolutely lower. Back then, you actually had to be able to sing!

We have also had time to go back and find music that may have been unappreciated in its day.
