^ ^ ^ "Polo" shirt is actually a misnomer. LaCoste was founded by Rene LaCoste in 1933 when he attempted to design the perfect shirt for playing tennis and golf by simulating a design already worn by polo players. The very first modern "polo shirt" was from LaCoste, which is why they are a coveted brand. The present style of a polo shirt would be more accurately described as a tennis shirt.

Either way his nickname on the tennis court was "The Gator," hence the logo. The shirt has nothing to do with Gatorade or University of Florida.


Given the heritage of the brand, I would recommend LaCoste, given the history.

I'm a huge Ralph Lauren fan. would never wear nautica, tommy, izod, polo jeans or any off-brand. Lacoste fits weird and I don't like the 4 buttons. Vineyard Vines and Southern Tide is a little too fratty for my graduated ass.

with that being said, Belk Men's at Crabtree and the Polo Outlet in Myrtle Beach are my favorites. You can occasionally get them at TJ Max for cheap but they can be defective

^I like southern proper boxers but the polos fit wide and the colors aren't very nice.

I figured they'd have trouble with clothing when they started out as a place to buy ties and bowties.

they don't really have anything appealing to me on the girl's side....I mean I can get headbands like that at jcrew if I need them, but I've always loved their accessories for men
