I just got a Yamaha Vino that now won't start. A few weeks ago using the electronic start I'd have to crank it a few times to get it to fire up. Then the electronic start completely did not work anymore so I used the kickstarter. Now the kickstarter won't even start after more than 30+ attempts.
The battery seems to be working as all the lights still turn on, but when it was running, the turn signals would flash at inconsistent speeds.
I'm not sure what the deal is or how to fix. Any suggestions on scooter shops or mechanics?
Thanks! 8/22/2011 12:50:53 PM |

Been a while since I've worked on such things, but I can and do work on anything. Let me do a little research. 8/23/2011 10:02:41 AM |

i would assume that even if the battery is bad, the kickstart should turn it on...though you could always hook it up to a car battery and try the electronic start to rule out the battery
does it turn over at all, even though it doesn't start? if so, it could be a loose wire or bad spark plug...plugs are cheap and generally easy to get to (my met's was accessible through a panel on the footboard, my click's is accessible from the side without removing anything)
it could be any number of things past that 8/23/2011 10:28:03 AM |

I'm thinking it's either sparkplug and/or carb cleaning. lights and other things seem to work so battery should be ok but the inconsistent turn signal flickering speeds kind of get me.
it does turn over after many many tries.....
how is the scooterz place on hillsborough st? i also tried to get in touch with Triple4Du but no response yet 8/23/2011 11:52:13 AM |

expensive.
pull out the spark plug and get it replaced first...thats your first line of worry and wont be over 5 bucks.
if that doesnt get it then you need to start thinking its in the carb or even the coil.
sounds like a bad plug though since it wont crank with either. 8/23/2011 1:54:13 PM |

^^ yeah, go plug first...cheap check and probably needs to be replaced anyway since most folks forget
cleaning the carb won't be hard, per se, but it'll take some effort
taking your scooter to any "real" maintenance place will be ridiculously expensive considering the cost of the scooter itself (which is why those chinese scoots that are less than $1000 new aren't a bad option...sure, they're scrap after 3-5k miles, but that's a couple of years of riding and it's cheaper to sell it for $100 on CL and get a new one than to fix it if you don't know what you're doing and don't care to learn) 8/23/2011 3:17:26 PM |
