Quote : | "DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — More than 200 parents have told a Pennsylvania school district they don't want their children taught by a teacher who called students "frightfully dim" and "disengaged, lazy whiners" on her personal blog.
Central Bucks East High School Superintendent Robert Laws say he expects the district to get "a lot more requests" from parents who want to keep their children away from English teacher Natalie Munroe.
The Doylestown Intelligencer reports 62 requests came from parents whose children were scheduled to be in Munroe's classes. District officials had estimated Munroe would have 90 students in her three classes.
Munroe was suspended in February after district officials learned of her blog.
Laws says a substitute will likely be hired to take on the students who won't be taught by Monroe. Classes begin Tuesday." |
Not only are the student frightfully dim, but so are the parents. If I could, I would definitely assign my kid to her class. It would be a perfect scenario for me to teach my son that "Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can never kill you" or "When life gets tough, you get tougher".
I would tell him to keep trying and challenging the teacher until he succeeds, no matter how many times she says he's stupid, dumb, dim, or can't do it.
Just my honest opinion.
P.S. The teacher is 100% correct about her students being "frightfully dim" and "disengaged, lazy whiners" and it stems from bad parenting and lack of teacher's ability to discipline appropriately.

I wanted to say what LeonIsPro had said, but I just knew it would play out the way it did for him.
Therefore, I 100% agree with everything LeonIsPro has said thus far.
In addition to this support, I would like to bring my own statement to the table:

Teacher's comments have notes of pseudointellectualism, based on the tone. I mean, who uses language like "frightfully dim" except for Brits and coffeehouse artfags who loathe their American culture and aren't half as smart as they think they are?
That said, she's right and I'd be all for my daughter having demanding teachers like that. These bitch-made mouth-breathing parents getting bent out of shape about it is related to why their kids are all fucked up, too. 8/24/2011 8:14:31 PM

It's actually kinda hard to find a spoiled brat. They really don't exist nearly as much as they get talked about. In college, I've ran into a couple kids that were crazy self-entitled/obnoxious, and nobody ever said anything to them about it... 8/26/2011 2:40:41 AM

She can call them dim, bright, black, blue, big, small...it doesn't matter. it's not hurting them. It's protected in the second amendment. It's her opinion, she's entitled to it. If she's wrong, then prove. her. wrong.
People call me dumb on here all day long. I respect their opinion, and even if they are right from their perspective, they are ultimately wrong in my perspective. Therefore it's all relative and you can't hold someone accountable for something that is directionally true. 9/1/2011 4:47:02 AM

it's not improving them in any way...
especially when it's probably just some depressed or alcoholic jackass that's not even related to them doing it

What you've just said ... is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Students are not going to perform for that kind of teacher. Most HS students have yet to develop that "F-you! I'll prove you wrong." attitude yet and some people never develop it. A best teachers believe in the capability of their students and then kick student ass until they do their best. 9/1/2011 8:35:09 AM

Eh, some students just simply don't give a fuck. I used to have the attitude of "If I just reach these kids they'll perform better!" but after teaching for several years reality set in 9/1/2011 9:10:37 AM

I just hate when I see shitty parenting. It's a problem everywhere, but it is like an epidemic up here. maybe I just get lucky and see all the bat shit crazy ones, but it is the number one reason we will not be having children until we move away from here.
