I'm looking for a free computer. I'd use Craigslist, but there are all sorts of scams involving free computers there. It's for a pet project. It can be damaged to some extent, as long as it is still working. Just need something to act as a server while I'm out because I'm too lazy to buy an actual server.

I have a 2001ish Gate way, 80 gig hard drive, 1.something MHz processor, unknown ram, 19ish flat screen SQUARE monitor, USB keyboard, and a WIRELESS Mouse! Runs Good... LOL... $60.00 and I'll throw in an HP InkJet Printer with no ink. Pickup at my house in Greenville.

^Said InkJet Printer is also a scanner. Like it matters... FYI This was my five year old daughters computer for the last two years, but she has since upgraded to a laptop.

It's going to run as a simple web server. So the screen doesn't even have to work perfectly. I was hoping there would be someone with a laptop with a cracked screen.

now that's what I'm looking for. Harddrive doesn't matter cause I've got an external for this project that will be the server. All the computer is going to do is read data from input devices and write it onto the external. I have network hardware to take it from there.

But... this particular model won't boot from a USB drive (or at least i haven't figured out how).

It's a Dell Inspiron with a 1.6Ghz Pentium M.

Are you around campus? I can drop it by sometime tomorrow, i'll even take it back if it won't suit your needs.

The CD/DVD drive also only works properly 10% of the time.

ive got like 4 p4 desktops and about 7 celeron "ipaq" desktops.

all are free to whomever comes and gets them.
