When every bank has the exact same hours 8-5. This makes no sense and I just got an old school paycheck that I have to actually take inside the bank(WTF?) so then I notice every branch is open m-f 8-5. I get to work at 8 and leave at 5 m-f. Great.

How is it poor people thing to get a paycheck? Seems very middle class to me. What do you rich folk do though? Just hire some sort of notarized courier to deposit all of your paper checks or do you all belong to banks with photo deposit apps?

^^yes. You feed it into the machine and it scans it. Wachovia does same day posting till like 9.30 here and 11PM in some locations. You can immediately withdraw up to $100 of it.

BoA, Chase, Wachovia/WellsFargo have all had this tech for probably over 2 years.

Banks don't make money off teller transactions...so they try to discourage them.

If you actually have money that the bank might be interested in, you don't have to ask permission to take off early to go to the bank.

This fact hit me MY VERY FIRST INTERNSHIP.

Before I started I actually went to the bank in that town and talked to them, and I was totally like "so guys, y'all gona be my bank" and got introduced to the fact that I could deposit at the ATM, so you know, drop it off over the weekend, and it'll make it to the right account eventually.

So I never again went into that bank. And I was thought: WHY THE FUCK HAVE A BANK? Just put machines in some different places, hire a schmuck to open envelopes every day, and I dunno, get some call center in India for business that take minimal amounts of thought.

Not all ATM's do same-day deposits. SECU, for example. If you deposit it before 1 PM it posts overnight. If you deposit it after 1, it posts overnight *the next night*. Which is kind of lame. Also, no Saturday hours. Even though they stay open 'til 6 on Fridays, kind of lame.

There are enough good things about it that I'm not going to be changing my bank anytime soon, but it does have its annoyances.

legally you are allowed a 30 minute break for 8 hours of work and I think 15 minutes for bathroom every 4. So either your company is breaking the law, or you don't work 8 hours, which means you have time to go to the bank between 8 and 5 either way.
