wouldn't it be hard to make those?
i have no idea, just seems difficult to smooth the glass at the top. 9/3/2011 8:56:32 AM

I would think it would be harder to cut the tops of the bottles off without cracking them. smoothing them out just takes some superfine sand paper and time. 9/3/2011 9:55:07 AM

I know they make glass tube cutters, but not likely one that would fit that size bottle. 9/3/2011 10:01:33 AM

That how to takes too long. If youre serious just buy a $200 lapidary band saw, i use a inland db-100 to cut up coral at work and its designed to cut glass up to 5" thick. 9/3/2011 11:16:15 AM

I have a large collection of printed label 22oz beer bottles waiting for me to get around to making them into glasses. A miter saw with a tile cutting blade would probably do it. Just go slow and lots of coolant 9/4/2011 3:28:58 AM

A crafty friend of mine just shared this link on Facebook and it reminded me of this thread.
How to cut glass bottles WITHOUT a glass cutter:

I wonder if it really works. 9/6/2011 9:58:55 PM

can't you put a string around a bottle and burn it, and make these yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMiej4630B4

I'm not sure if it's already been posted in this thread three times or not, but I heard you can cut your own bottles with string and fire or something. 9/6/2011 11:22:03 PM

that is a better how to video- and he does a good job of explaining why. Only thing you need to get in order to do that method is a glass scoring tool (which I imaging you could either buy the one he uses for 45~ bucks or make one yourself, like he suggests doing). If I ever got bored enough to do this, I would totally try this method
