I was just thinking about how it's weird that I've never been to the Biltmore House or Tryon Palace but it seems like almost every who grew up in NC has been to one of those if not both of those places. I just never went on a school trip there or visited with my family.

I have also never gone on an history tour of Winston-Salem, which seems like something most people have done.

I've only been to Charlotte once, I think. 2005 Tire Bowl. I've been through a few times and stopped for food, but that's the only time I've stuck around.

i haven't been to all the lighthouses but i've never been interested in going to them either. i've been to lookout several times though.

Moore's Creek Battleground doesn't ring a bell. i went on a bajillion field trips w/ school & w/ some retired teacher lady who just liked to take groups of kids on field trips, but i don't remember that one.

i had never been to charlotte until a couple of years ago with a convention for work. also had never been to wilmington until my brother was moving into a dorm at uncw 5 or so years ago. i spent a lot of my summers at little river off albemarle sound & later to emerald isle, so if we went somewhere as a family, it was to our place there.

others:
biltmore house
mt mitchell
acid park/that whirligig place in wilson (i'm in rocky mount, everybody else has gone i think)

As a kid, I saw all those commercials for the Ghost Town in the Sky (Maggie Valley), and the Tweetsie Railroad. I always wanted to go there, but never did. Tweetsie you're a blast from the past.

I've never been to the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Kitty Hawk, never been to a race at Charlotte or Rockingham... hell I've never been to Wilmington.

Though I'm not from NC so I get a pass I think...

I've seen all the "important" ones. My family was too cheap to go anywhere out of state for family vacations. Except the "big" vacation to Busch Gardens.

Acid park is a night time thing.

I've only seen a few, I guess. That list is probably shorter than places I haven't been. Went to some light house, don't even remember which one, it was near the Hatteras one. Seen Hatteras from a distance. Kitty hawk. Seen grandfather mountain. Bell tower, obviously... I pissed on the old well at UNC. Been in the state capitol building. That's about it I guess

^^ I did not know you lived in Hickory...Did you grow up there?

Not that it's necessarily a landmark, but I have never been to Mystery Hill in Blowing Rock. I've been everywhere else listed so far.

Whoever called Tyron a "cheesy tourist attraction" is a bit off. They actually went through great efforts to keep things historically accurate (namely moving a shit ton of stuff to build on the original foundations). I mean, is the White House a cheesy tourist attraction because it burned down and had to be reconstructed? hmm?
