The borg are so stupid.

"Yeah we'll let intruders just wander around the ship looking for weaknesses, they haven't shot at us yet so it should be fine."

Too bad that I couldn't be "assimilated" by Seven of Nine.

ahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaahah

That seriously might be the worst idea in Star Trek history. They are a race that assimilates anything they see but let people freely walk around on their ship until they "become a threat."

i get your point, but i also understand that they were modeling it after hive mentality...ever worked with bees? they generally won't sting you until you "become a threat"

The away teams should have dressed up like plumbers or UPS guys before they beamed over.

DS9 is, by far, the most underrated of the star trek series

The Borg were great in TNG minus First Contact. They were hilariously stupid in Voyager. I, too, can not wait until DS9 comes out on Netflix in October. I'll give it a viable shot when I can sit down and watch from start to finish.

I just can't get over how they brought here in merely for sex appeal. I think she's smokin' hot, but come on. When you have to pander that hard it's because your show sucks. BSG started out with hotties and didn't feel compelled to magically bring in more simply to get horny guys to watch.

I have to say, BSG was too overtly sexual for me. I will give it another try but it just kind of made me uncomfortable! I def love the premise of that show for sure!

Ah but this is a core mechanic of BSG. Without it there is no BSG. It's something of a commentary that the entirety of a race is in jeopardy not because of missiles/bullets, but because of sex. That most primal of instincts being mastered by the cylons so early on underpins the whole show. You've got sex in one hand - the physical, carnal desire paid with life long companionship- and god in the other - purely a mental exercise (?). The realization that the cylons have mastered both and that humans are scrapping to master either is an awesome commentary on the microcosm of the human existence. It gets particularly interesting when everyone starts to turn on everyone.

Yeah well bees just want to get pollen -- make honey [/dancing t-rex]

They aren't hostile because they don't care about you and they aren't an intelligent species. Borg are supposedly intelligent, so they should know very well that a species they are at war with that's wandering around their ship is a threat, whether they are shooting or not. Also Borg want to assimilate everyone anyway, why not take the opportunity to snag some with little effort.
