Going to Pigeon Forge this weekend to look at a few cars, and wanted to drive the Tail of the Dragon coming back home while I still had a semi-fun car to drive (other option is a Chevy Cobalt or my Tundra, likely more fun in my Jetta).

Anyone else ever driven it? Worth the drive?

Air has made many trips to the Dragon. I think he prefers to go late in the season (Thanksgiving) when the tourism has died down.

it was fun, but kinda slow. there were other roads in the area i liked better b/c you could go faster.

worth the drive if you've never been

just gonna be clogged with blub blub blub harley fags this time of year.

Gotta wait till after Nov 1 and before March 1 to have any fun up there

even when i go i usually see cops here and there, so be careful. Taps on the head mean slow up something is happening up ahead.

the drive up there is actually pretty fun because you do have twisty back roads that you can take at higher speeds.

I went once in 2006 (with Air)and I had a lot of fun. It was supposed to be a meet of Rx-7 guys but I didn't drive much with the big group. That's slow and lame. You have to go in small groups when there is little traffic.

My parents drove the dragon in their Buick Park Avenue when they were in TN and the rockslide closed I-40. My mom asked me if I had heard of it.

No, the truckers can't make the turning radius. They take up both lanes.

be careful on 74 in NC headed towards the dragon.. Cops like to hide on it. its a 4 lane divided highway so it is easy to speed down hills and such.

Happy valley rd was a fun drive for me. I also like the stretch between the dragon and fontana village.

do people sit on the side of the road and take pictures constantly to sell to ricers in their lexus's and acuras, or you you people station your passenger on the roadside to capture such douche-baggery? I'm really intrigued by this.

i dont have any friends and often put a video camera on the side of the road to do drive-bys and see what my exhaust sounds like.

yeah photographers sit there and take pics all day and then put them on their website. you look under the date you were there and find yourself. i didn't buy, that's why there's "PROOF" written all over the pic.

lols. I most certainly did not buy these pictures. Water marks are not that hard to remove...

You forgot to make fun of my Porsche. That hurts...

yeah, Killboy was one of the original photogs there, cool dude, he's got the sexy evo and I think he has a scoobie too. There's like 5 other photos companies there now, pretty crazy, half of them are shitty. Although I like the guys at Photo129.com since the three dudes there race bikes and are actually pretty decent photos with good gear.

From last year, rigged the dlsr on the back for video.

Get out there *early* to beat the cruisers parking it in every corner, keep yours between the lines, and watch out for fuckwits in 18-wheelers coming around the corner taking up the whole road.
