I'm taking a DE class and the primary method of communication is the message board.

Can I just call people by their first names? I wouldn't even ask, but nobody is actually referring to anybody else directly. Username seems retarded, last name seems too formal.

What about the TA? He's only a PhD student. I can get all chummy and call him by first name, right?
