My company is looking to migrate to a version of saleforce, just curious if any one had had any experience with them.

As a user only, never on the business end of things.

What are you using now? Are you going to use it for case management or sales data (or both)? We went from a pile of shit to a customized instance of SF, so I can't say I really have any complaints. My understanding is that there really isn't many choices when it comes to large enterprise-level CRM systems these days. They're also a client of ours, and I'll just say they don't seem to have the most competent sysadmins....

Fantastic. We too are moving from a proprietary CRM to a custom version of sforce (i think). Using it for both.

Yes.

They are the best CRM out there. You can keep things as simple and easy to maintain as you would like or as ridiculously complex and technical as you like. I've been working on the platform for over 5 years now.

Having used a way-over-customized version of Siebel CRM plus SAP, Oracle, a proprietary web based tool and now Salesforce, I have to say Salesforce is the best for the user. It's fast, intuitive and accessible anywhere, which are big bonuses for sales reps who hate wasting time on process in the first place.

The plugin / app exchange is a nice model, there are a several free apps out there that are worth a look. Last week I did some email campaigns with the VerticalExchange app which integrates very nicely with Salesforce. It will push data gathered from email response to leads in Salesforce and offers all kinds of customization and statistics.

Since I currently work for a very small company I've been tasked with setting up and customizing Salesforce for myself and another employee. Nothing in depth, but for instance I have configured a couple apps and set up several custom reports and views. I would highly recommend it from both a user and "basic admin" standpoint.

I'm pretty sure we switched to Microsoft System Center Service Manager because we got it for FREE (after using SalesForce, apparently we saved a ton of money)

The last company I worked for used Microsoft CRM and it was free (partner status probably).

As an end user I enjoyed it more though that probably could have been related to the fact that we managed the servers and our admins were proactive about modifying things. We could easily write scripts.
