one time my fat friend ordered 10 wings and he counted 9. he was shit faced ($40+ tab) and asked the waitress to refund his one wing. she got the manager and he was like are you serious? my friend got so mad he wrote in $0 for the tip and wrote something to the effect of "fuck you bitch "you probably ate it" (the wing) I'm not tipping you shit, go fuck yourself"

we hid his receipt and just paid his tab and tipped well and told ihm if he didn't pay us back he'd have to walk home. he paid us back.

I tip every other time I go out, but I tip double, so while one server gets fucked, the next one gets 40 percent. Seems to work so far.

If you go out a lot...it's a good practice to be nice to your server/bartender. Don't have to kiss their ass, but it's a good idea to not to do what this guy did...and tip at least something. Word travels fast in the service industry.

I don't think the 0$ tip is what's notable, the bartender would probably just brush that off.

Well, obviously, they can't ban him from restaurants.

But, like jbrick83 pointed out, people do talk. And, if you read the Facebook comments, you'll see where people are like, "I'll keep an eye out for him" or "I'll pass that name along to so-and-so (the doorman)."

I personally don't go out enough to ever be affected by something like that, but from my understanding, frequent goers-out develop reputations among the other patrons and the people that serve them. I think you can either be a "cool guy" or a "douche." This Andrew Meyer fella is apparently a douche.

I always over tip, by a good margin.

The majority of the people in the service industry work for piss wages, and get treated like dirt by power hungry managers and clients who think the waiter/waitress/bartender is beneath them. (per above example)

Does a few extra bucks make a real difference in thier lives, or mine? No, but it does convey that you are appreciative of being served and being treated well, and aren't just tipping "because you have to".
