I got a discount when moving to MD for being an engineer. Might be something to look into.

Yes. I was just trying to find out if I'm paying too much for car insurance. It appears not; in fact, it appears I have a really low rate, comparatively.

Same deal for me. All these companies were saying I would be paying a lot less with them so I checked out their sites and got some online quotes. Some of them were expecting me to pay upwards of double what I'm paying now for the exact same service. Idiots.

(also, I'd like to point out that I appreciate your subtle reference to the dramatic email reading)

Because they're banking on people not asking for the discounts

i just called around yesterday trying to get my new scooter and my truck bundled. it seems as if my current allstate insurer (walt dunn--RAL) is going to beat out the competition.

i hope those basterts from gecko and progressive dont hassle me.

Does your prior length of insurance affect your rate?

For example, I've had my own insurance for about 1 year; prior to that, I was on my dad's policy. When I got my current insurance, they said I was considered to not have previous coverage, since it wasn't my policy. However, one insurance company I received a quote from did list me has being covered under 2 previous policies (which were my dad's).

^hmm, sending PM

For public knowledge, from mildew's hookups:

"Yes previous coverage counts. If they were not a named insured it can affect their rate, but it can be input to get them a cheaper rate if they have proof (something with their name on it showing they were covered under the policy) When we run the person's name it will only show policies they are the main policy holder of. Somebody just didn't take the time to give them the best rate they could. "
