I use to live near Morristown. There ain't jack around there but suburbs as far as the eye can see From what I remember though Farny State Park and Norvin Green State Park have some nice short hikes if hiking is your thing. Also the drive into Manhattan isn't bad at all from there. We used to go on the weekends and it would take maybe 30 minutes to get to Chinatown and then you can park for free on the block City Hall is on during weekends as long as you get there early enough. If you don't day parking in the lots down around Wall Street is dirt cheap (by NY standards) on weekends.

Morristown is one of the nicest towns in New Jersey. It's extremely walkable and vibrant, and there is a direct train connection into Manhattan. Takes a little over an hour and costs $13 each way.

Damn wish my town had had a direct connection to Manhattan when I was living up there. It was usually easier to just drive

I lived in a neighboring township of Morristown. Nice area and you should see some great leave changes being up there. Going outside of Morristown and it's somewhat rural (but not sketchy rural).

I don't know about the barrier but Route 10 is right where I used to live. What town are you staying in? I'm going to guess Parsippany because a lot of companies have offices there and Route 10 runs right through it. I used to live behind the Dairy Queen on Route 10 by the community college

lol yeah. They got rid of left turns on most main roads to help with traffic. Like maximus said, find yourself a jug handle

No left turns helps with the traffic.
