Wants us to go watch Jack & Jill with them over Thanksgiving break. I just don't think I can entertain them on that one. Do you guys take one for the team in situations like this?

its two hours of your life, which your GF's family will likely not forget soon if you haven't spent that much time with them, go and ham it up and pretend you like the movie, it will pay off

[Edited on October 25, 2011 at 12:59 PM. Reason : but be honest w/ the gf if you hate the movie, and yes, request BJ]

^^^ If you are only looking at 30 seconds of pleasure from a BJ then you've got bigger problems than movie choices...

This is a no brainer. You should want to see this movie anyways because it's easily going to be the best movie of the year.

Go, enjoy, and celebrate Adam Sandler's masterpiece.

Thanksgiving is the one of the FEW DAYS per YEAR that were designated to spend time with family.

FEW DAYS per YEAR.

Think about it.

"over thanksgiving break" is not the same as "on thanksgiving day". also, if you're spending thanksgiving w/ them anyway, then you've already given up the spending time w/ family part.

I would go and dissect the movie, taking notes the whole time. Afterwords, I'd use this film as a main subject in a thesis that contained brilliant prose on the demise of cinema and submit it for a nobel prize.

my mom buys TranSiberian Orchestra tickets every year, and automatically includes any significant others my sister or I might have. I believe this has directly contributed to my current single status

^^ resentment for having to sit through one movie??

Just go. She'll appreciate it, and I'm sure there are plenty of things she does w you and your family she doesn't want to. One 2 hour movie isn't the end of the world. Suck it up!

Well a few months ago my family wanted to go see a movie I didn't want to go see and I just went to go see another movie. I am comfortable questioning my family's taste but not hers. I have already expressed my desire to not want to watch this movie weeks ago when I jokingly showed her the trailer. Now not wanting to go see it makes me a child. ugh

I'm more concerned by the fact that this family is earmarking a Sandler movie to go see over a month in advance. Did they make similar arrangements for You Don't Mess with the Zohan? Did they cancel prior obligations to see Spanglish? Were they upset that there wasn't a midnight release for I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry? Seems like a family to stay away from, at all costs.

Unless the daughter is super hot. Then you go see that fucking movie and you fucking like it.
