Seriously, how does this work? There's multiple sections of, say, Bowling, offered distance ed. Is it only the theory and the written work, and some kind of meet-up exam? 10/28/2011 3:16:43 AM |

Well duh obviously you will be playing with a bowling app on the iPhone/iPad.
Same with DE pool/snooker, archery, darts, etc. 10/28/2011 9:30:10 AM |

DE Bowling 2 coaching sessions during the year optional homework in prep for the exam Single exam @ the end of the semester with a written and practical portions in which you'll be required to bowl an average of 200 over 10 games. 11/1/2011 10:41:49 PM |

DE bowling was the only C I ever made in college. I bought a ball, shoes, etc. and bowled several times a week at pleasant valley. When I took it you only had to show up once for the test. written part and skills part. I had been averaging 185 or so but at Western Lanes they have real hardwood lanes (not to mention they barely oil them) and the hook ball I was throwing on the synthetic lanes at PV just would break halfway down the lane and I ended up bowling a 98 average or something and got a C.
I've bowled in leagues all through college and have consistently averaged much, much higher but fuck those lanes at Western.

Well there isn't a bowling alley on campus so their only option is to offer it as "distance" ed. 11/3/2011 11:46:31 AM |

^^^ Thats why so many people drop the course after seeing those lanes on the first day. Its pointless to take it online unless you are gonna practice at the alley. I took the course on campus and i barely got my S because of how bad the lanes were. whern you throw the ball it won't go straight because there are so many cracks in the wood so your score will be consistently lower. I knew the problem was the lanes because I went to a good bowling alley and got like 50 points higher every time.

what pissed me off was I actually learned how to bowl properly and bowled on a team until recently. the lanes are in terrible condition, as you said. if they got new lanes and scoring systems I'd be up there almost daily. hopefully now that melvin's has moved in there, they can offset some of their overhead and do something about the lanes. I almost would have gotten a D but the coach had to curve like crazy. 3/12/2012 5:41:26 AM |

unless the instructors are magical gurus, I'm glad I didn't take this course. 200 average for 10 games? ahahaha, fuck that. my high is like 130.3/13/2012 8:51:49 AM |

That's a ludicrous average for a PE class; averaging 200 qualifies you to be a member of the PBA.
