I have a cup that i found in my room of vodka. i was tempted to take a sip, so i did so. I noticed that the odor by smelling it has decreased (could barely smell it) and the taste was like water with a hint of alcohol, i just drank it now so i couldnt tell you if i were to feel effects or not bc im also on marijuana and i drank a beer. Basically all i was wondering is can you get sick from this? can it go bad? I just wanna know if it is safe to cosume it before i drink the rest 10/28/2011 7:26:08 PM

No, it will not go bad. The ability to keep is one of the benefits of most liquors. And I don't see how exposure to the air would really affect it all that much.
I mean, I'm sure it's best to keep it sealed, but come on, it's vodka... 10/28/2011 9:17:34 PM

Yeah, I think the only thing that might change is possible evaporation of some of the alcohol. 10/28/2011 9:19:12 PM

if it's open, the alcohol will evaporate off

Alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature than does water, so it's evaporating faster. It's the same principle as how it's created by distillation, except that you aren't capturing the alcohol, and you're instead drinking what's leftover. 10/28/2011 9:22:14 PM

Dang, I should have thought of that.
My eye kinda itched recently, and I was sure that I was developing a horrible infection...so I tried to flush it with rubbing alcohol. Obviously, a full flush was impossible, as it immediately started burning like hell. So I flushed it with water and cried cause I was convinced that I probably blinded myself.
But a trusty Google search revealed that it would evaporate, and I was fine.
I've become more and more stupid/hysterical with age, and I hate it. But the eye did stop itching.
[Edited on October 28, 2011 at 9:34 PM. Reason : Also, don't pour rubbing alcohol on your genitals.] 10/28/2011 9:30:41 PM

It's also pulling water out of the air into the alcohol water mix. thermodynamic how does it work?
