I noticed a bump type thing on the left side of my dogs snout the other day and have no idea if it is anything to be concerned about. It is kind of difficult to describe and he wouldn't hold still enough to get a decent picture but I will do the best I can. If you think about hair that is stuck together that is kind of what this is like up close. From a distance it looks like a mole or some bump but when you get up close and move it with your finger it basically frays out like really thick hair but instead it is skin. On the outside it is the color of his fur but when you spread it out it has a pinkish hue of skin. No pus or blood or anything coming from it and it didn't seem to hurt him when I press on it or move it around when inspecting it so that makes me feel okay but it is just pretty strange overall.

Any ideas? I tried to google it but I couldn't come up with anything that matched. From what I gathered about cancerous lumps on dogs this doesn't seem to be one so that is good.

wart?

That has to be it!

Thanks for you help, that was the best description of it I have found. I saw different pictures of warts when I was googling but they didn't look like what he has probably because it is covered by fur. Now that I read your link it makes sense. Thanks again.

Yeah luckily his doesn't look like that because it is on the outside of his snout and covered in fur. Still pretty gross though

My dog got up from her bed last night and started crying (not just a little whine) every time she stepped on her front left foot. When I moved the leg up and down, she would cry again, but not when I would massage her leg. When I let her out, she was walking fine and without a limp. I thought maybe she had been lying on it wrong and it might have just fallen asleep, or at worst she just might have pulled a muscle. So, when she woke up this morning, she was crying again every time she pushed off the leg. She wont lay down or bend over to eat or drink from her bowls. She also has some noticeable discomfort.

What do you think TWW? Is this more than just a muscle pull that will heal on its own?

idk what it could be, but the fact that the dog won't/can't eat or drink is a big red flag imo. i'd go to the vet.

I would be concerned that something is wrong with her back/neck if she won't bend down to eat/drink water. I would go to your vet.

So, just to followup. Took her to the vet this morning, and of course they couldn't find anything wrong. Waste of time and money. Vets are such a racket.
